10/22 Barton Family Update
Posted Date: 10/22/26 (11:07 AM)

Hello Barton Families~
Students are getting cell phones at younger and younger ages, and so I want to encourage you to keep a close eye on the messages coming and going between peers. We have had some harmful comments written, and 8, 9, and 10-year-olds don't always know the power of their words and the immense hurt they can cause. Though this is happening outside of Barton, it does end up impacting the learning environment if students don't feel comfortable coming to school because of something said or because of interpersonal conflict brewing. As always thank you for partnering with us on supporting all of our students.
TONIGHT for 4th Grade!
On October 22nd, our fourth graders and their families are invited back to school for our annual fourth grade math game night from 5:30-6:30.

Lost and Hopefully Found
Our lost and found is growing! If you recognize something in the photos, respond to this newsletter and we'll get it back to your kiddo!

Please remember
Several clubs have begun at each grade level. Please keep an eye on parent square for updates regarding your students' after school activities.
Play dates between students are great and are encouraged! However, the school bus is provided to bring students to their home as listed in Powerschool only (unless a form is submitted and a daycare is accepted by our transportation director in Central Office). If you plan a playdate, you would need to send in a note saying that the supervising parent has permission to pick up your child from school that day.
COSTUME PARADE INFORMATION
Congratulations to Ms. Ellis's Class on Winning the Candy Monster Challenge (CLOSELY followed by Mrs. Torteson's Class). Ms. Ellis and Grade 3 will therefore be leading next week's Costume parade!
We will have our annual costume parade on Friday, October 30th at approximately 1:25pm. Students will parade around the building twice for photos, and related early dismissal will take place at assigned numbered doors around the building. Parents should send a note in if they plan to dismiss their student immediately following the parade and consider lining up strategically around the building near their student's dismissal door to facilitate the signing out process. The dismissal doors are as follows:
Ms. Andrade, Ms. Ellis- Door 1 (Main Office Door)
Ms. Menard, Mrs. Torteson, Door 2 (Left Side driveway before parent pick up door)
Mr. Dolan, Dr. St Germain- Door 3 (Parent pick up door)
Ms. Joubert, Ms. Herrick- Door 4 (Gym door, playground area near corner of building)
Ms. Pariseau, Mrs. Favata- Door 5 (Second gym door by blacktop)
Mrs. Scholl, Mrs. Hornbaker- Door 6 (Right side of building near back playground)
Ms. Freudenthal- Door 7 (Library exit door, Right side of building)
Ms. Murphy, Mrs. Pierce, Mrs. DelSelva Door 10 (Right Side of building near dumpster)
When planning costumes for this day, please keep safety and school appropriateness in mind and students should leave all costume props at home so they do not get lost or broken (or used inappropriately). Masks are okay but face paint cannot be applied during the day and should not come to school.
The first quarter will wrap up on October 30th with report cards soon to follow, just over a week later. Save the dates!
Our holiday concerts will take place in the school gym on the following dates/times:
Grade 3- Thursday, December 10th 1:15pm
Grade 4- Friday, December 11th 9:30am
Grade 5- Friday, December 11th 1:00pm

We are always looking for substitute teachers- Consider applying! Information below and you can click the image to see all the Oxford Public Schools current openings:
In alignment with our School handbook, please remember smartphones and watches are not allowed in school. They should be stowed safely in backpacks throughout the day. Similarly, squishies are being used as toys which are not allowed. Several have also broken and damaged classroom carpets. Thank you for your help in keeping these items at home. We always have free grab and go breakfast items available for students to take back to their rooms to eat- however, no outside food/drink allowed (Sorry- no N&Js, Dunkin, etc.).
We know things happen at home that can affect a student during the school day. Feel free to send along a Handle With Care message- no details needed- to teachers should your student be in need of a little extra Tender Loving Care on any given day. Also, feel free to reach out to guidance or administration if you would like to explore additional supports. Contact information is listed at the bottom of this post!

Shout Out a Teacher...
As they year gets under way, any time you'd like to share a great experience you or your child has with a staff member, consider clicking on or scanning the QR code below to send an anonymous message of thanks to your child's teacher from you. (We share with the staff member and the Superintendent's office any time we receive one!) It really goes a long way in filling their cup and making the days bright!
Contact InformationReaching out to your child’s teacher directly is the best place to start when you have questions or concerns! Parent Square is a great way to connect, but please remember that staff are focused on the students in front of them throughout the day, and cannot always respond right away- expect a response within 24 hours. If there is an immediate need, please reach out to Mrs. Mayo in the main office who will be able to help you- (508) 987-6066. Here are some other key staff members you may want to reach out to:
